Chapter 0007: The Fierce Female Soldier

Dark Small Medium Large Original Scroll to Bottom

At the moment he fell to the ground, Luo Zheng felt a bullet graze his scalp, the searing heat suffocating. As he rolled onto the ground, he hurriedly hid behind a nearby tree, sitting down with a thud. He touched his head, a surge of survival after a disaster washing over him. Perhaps having faced death multiple times had numbed his heart; Luo Zheng felt it was not so terrifying anymore. Taking a deep breath to calm his emotions, he noticed the mottled sunlight at his feet, resembling butterflies dancing. He couldn't help but look up at the sky, thinking to himself: "Could it be that my brothers in spirit are watching over me?"

After the female soldier landed, she quickly rolled her body, and two bullets almost followed her rolling back and struck the ground. Under the incredulous gaze of Luo Zheng, the female soldier suddenly slapped the ground, sprang up, and leaped out five meters, landing steadily behind a large tree. She curled her body into a ball, minimizing her attack surface as much as possible, and remained completely still.

He ran far away in one breath, and the gunfire behind him was no longer audible. Luo Zheng gradually came to a stop, looking around but not seeing the female soldier, which made him feel anxious. Gritting his teeth, he turned back to run, as he could not abandon the female soldier and the librarian to escape. Moreover, those enemies ahead could possibly be the ones who had killed his comrades.

With a loud bang, a gunshot rang out, causing the large tree to shake and splinters to fly everywhere

"Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh, get down!" The sound of three consecutive gunshots mixed with an angry shout rang in Luo Zheng's ears. Having already dashed several meters forward, Luo Zheng could not stop his momentum. He failed to notice a tree root exposed on the ground, lost his balance, and was tripped, rolling far away.

Hearing the gunfire not far away, Luo Zheng, who was preparing to counterattack, knew without looking that it was the female soldier taking the opportunity to fight back. Without caring about anything else, he exerted force under his feet, let out a strange cry, and charged forward, intending to use himself as bait to draw the enemy's fire, creating an opportunity for the female soldier. Luo Zheng was full of confidence in the female soldier's marksmanship; at worst, he would die. Rather than dying a suffocating death, it was better to die a glorious one.

"Withdraw first," the female soldier said coldly, without answering Luo Zheng's question

Luo Zheng felt a tremendous force coming towards him, causing him to lose his grip on the mountain-cutting knife, which flew far away and landed on the ground, the blade having been broken into two pieces.

Luo Zheng felt a slight pain in his arm, blood gushing out, and he was momentarily stunned. Suddenly, he heard a woman's voice shouting to take cover. Instinctively, he dropped to the ground and then realized that the large tree he was hiding behind had been pierced through, leaving a large hole. Fortunately, the bullet had changed its trajectory after hitting the tree, only grazing his skin. Realizing he had narrowly escaped death, Luo Zheng was completely enraged, a surge of fury rising within him—he was ready to risk everything and fight back.

Thinking that the female soldier might be a special forces operative from his own country, Luo Zheng felt a surge of blood rush to his head. Panic gradually faded away, and he regained his usual calmness and shrewdness. He continued to hide motionless behind the large tree, fully aware that such high-level combat was beyond his capability to participate in. Venturing out would mean certain death, and hiding would only lead to a slow demise. The number of enemies was unknown, and he had to do something to assist that female soldier; saving her was akin to saving himself.

Almost simultaneously, Luo Zheng saw the female soldier suddenly leap up from the ground, like a hunting cheetah. In mid-air, she caught the gun thrown to her, and just as her body began to descend, an intense aura of killing intent erupted from the female soldier, as if it were a tangible substance. The gun in her hand let out a shocking roar, and the bullets produced a sharp sonic boom, tearing through the air and vanishing without a trace

A gunshot rang out with a sharp sound

Luo Zheng felt a sound nearby, startled, he turned his head and saw that the female soldier had rushed over at some point, standing behind a large tree about three to five meters diagonally opposite him, coldly glaring at him with a fierce expression. Luo Zheng sensed that this female soldier, who appeared like a ghost, was even stronger than he had anticipated, so he stopped being pretentious and quickened his pace to run wildly

"Can't die, are we not on the same side?" Luo Zheng replied with a tone of confusion.

In a battle of experts, remaining behind only becomes a burden. At this moment, Luo Zheng realized how utterly useless he was. Compared to that female soldier, he was like the heavens and the earth, a difference of ten thousand miles. As for those enemies, they were evenly matched against the female soldier, which was no small feat; they were not something he could compare to.

The sound suddenly rang out again, reminding him to duck down, spoken in the familiar Mandarin. He couldn't help but turn his head to take a look; it was the female soldier, who, he did not know when, had already reached behind another large tree about five or six meters away from him, hiding her body beneath the raised, massive roots of the tree, with her gun pointed forward

A bullet accurately struck Luo Zheng's backpack.

Thinking of this, Luo Zheng looked around and found nothing useful. Feeling the mountain knife still in his hand, he had a sudden inspiration. He observed the mottled sunlight filtering through the leaves, estimated the possible hiding positions of the enemy, and slowly extended the mountain knife out from behind the tree, angling the blade to reflect a beam of sunlight.

"Who shot?" A sharp sound of two bullet sonic booms echoed, followed by a woman's voice asking: "Is anyone dead?"

"So powerful." Luo Zheng stared blankly at the concealed female soldier, not expecting the enemy to shoot so quickly from the shadows, and the female soldier to evade even faster. What remarkable skills! Could this be the legendary, mysterious, and powerful special forces? The female soldier did not shoot at herself; could it really be that she is one of us?

After walking back for about 200 meters, the surroundings were eerily quiet, with only the sound of the wind rustling the leaves. There were no suspicious individuals in sight, as if nothing had happened just moments ago. Luo Zheng was taken aback and was contemplating what to do when an angry voice rang out from nearby, "What are you coming back for? Are you looking for death? Run!"

He rushed out for more than ten meters without worrying about the sudden gunfire. Luo Zheng did not know what was happening, but he noticed that the female soldier did not retreat. Feeling that it was shameful for a man to leave a woman behind and run away first, he prepared to turn back, when he heard a girl shout, "Run."

A gunshot echoed from a distance once again

Luo Zheng was taken aback, turned his head to see that the shooter was a female soldier. Immediately after, he heard a faint muffled groan, indicating that someone had been hit. He couldn't help but feel delighted, gaining a clear understanding of the female soldier's terrifying marksmanship, and also sensing that his own method was feasible, which greatly boosted his confidence

"Uh?" Luo Zheng looked at the female soldier in surprise. Suddenly, a sharp whistle came from the direction of the enemy, and not knowing its meaning, he noticed the female soldier's face was as serious as frost. He guessed it was not a good sign and felt that the female soldier was completely trustworthy. Since she had called for a retreat, there must be a reason for it. Without hesitation, he dashed back in the direction they had come from, picking up his backpack and machete along the way.
